Grace Dieu to Tintern

Follow the Offa’s Dyke path to the medieval market town of Monmouth, with its castle and picturesque fortified bridge. Cut across through Penallt to join the Wye Valley Walk. Old trackways take you through woods with evocative names like Botany Bay and Barbadoes Green and down to the river bank.

Tintern is the archetypal Cistercian ruin: soaring arches, delicate carvings and the great east window through which the harvest moon shines.
