Strata Florida to Cymmer

You can follow the Cambrian Way past the Teifi Pools and over to Cwmystwyth. The moors are beautiful but bleak and dangerous in bad weather. An easier route goes through Ffair-rhos and the picturesque landscaped gardens of the Hafod, with their caves and waterfalls. Rejoin the Cambrian Way and walk past Devil’s Bridge and through the lead mines to Ponterwyd.

Here you can walk up Pumlumon (752m) or take the easy way along the Nant-y-moch Reservoir and through the mountain gorges to Machynlleth. More choices: over Cader Idris (893m) or up the Corris valley to the Centre for Alternative Technology and through the slate quarries. Cymmer is just north of the pretty market town of Dolgellau.
